Taiwan will implement virtual asset transfer rules starting October 2026, marking a key update in digital asset news. The Financial Supervisory Authority (FSA) requires virtual asset service providers (VASPs) to comply with the Travel Rule by October 2026. Transfers exceeding 30,000 TWD must include the sender’s date of birth and address for verification. Local transfers will begin in October 2026, with cross-border compliance required by 2027. Non-compliance may result in fines of 500,000 to 10,000,000 TWD under the Anti-Money Laundering Act. The new cryptocurrency regulations aim to strengthen AML efforts in the region.

ChainCatcher report, according to Yahoo Finance, Taiwan’s Financial Supervisory Commission has announced that, starting October 2026, Taiwanese Virtual Asset Service Providers (VASPs) must comply with the Travel Rule when transferring virtual assets. For any single transfer exceeding NT$30,000, the sender must provide not only basic transaction details but also the client’s date of birth and address to enable the recipient to verify identity. The measure will be implemented in phases—starting this October, it will first apply to transfers between VASPs within Taiwan, with transfers involving external VASPs expected to be implemented by the end of 2027. Failure to integrate these procedures into internal controls or to properly transmit required data may result in fines ranging from NT$500,000 to NT$10,000,000 under the Anti-Money Laundering Act.
