Odaily Planet Daily report: The Swiss National Bank’s holdings of U.S. equities reached a record high in the second quarter of 2026. According to its Form 13F filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), as of June 30, the market value of the Swiss National Bank’s holdings in over 2,300 U.S. publicly traded companies amounted to $191.4 billion, representing more than a 10% increase from the previous quarter.
Data shows that the Swiss National Bank has been steadily increasing its allocation to U.S. stocks in its foreign exchange reserves. As one of the world’s major central banks, the SNB has long managed its substantial foreign exchange reserves through investments in overseas equities and bonds, with U.S. stocks being a key investment focus.
The disclosed position size has reached a record high, reflecting the Swiss National Bank’s continued significant exposure to U.S. equities in its global asset allocation. However, the 13F filing only discloses holdings of U.S.-listed stocks and does not include the full foreign exchange reserve portfolio or reflect the central bank’s recent trading activities.
The Swiss National Bank previously attracted market attention for holding a large number of U.S. technology stocks, with its portfolio encompassing many major tech companies. As U.S. stocks, particularly those related to artificial intelligence, continue to rise, the value of American assets held by some overseas institutional investors has significantly increased.
