Super Micro Computer shares gained more than 8% in Wednesday's premarket session after strong fiscal first-quarter results and a higher full-year revenue forecast. Benzinga Pro data put the premarket gain at 8.31%, with shares trading at $34.00. Demand for AI infrastructure and favorable analyst comments helped drive the advance. Nasdaq futures advanced 0.99% as broader markets rose. S&P 500 futures increased 1.04%.
Super Micro posted $19.9 billion in fiscal first-quarter revenue, more than three times the year-earlier amount. Super Micro projected second-quarter revenue between $19.5 billion and $21.5 billion, compared with Wall Street's estimate of $16.5 billion. Super Micro projected adjusted earnings per share between $1.66 and $1.90, above the $1.08 consensus. Super Micro increased its fiscal 2027 revenue forecast from $65 billion to $72 billion to a new range of $72 billion to $82 billion. Bloomberg reported that CFO Mark Long expects AI-related products to contribute about 70% to 80% of fiscal 2027 revenue.
CEO Charles Liang said Super Micro is adding manufacturing capacity and enterprise partnerships to speed AI infrastructure deployments. However, large AI projects have made revenue more concentrated among customers. A single data center customer contributed 44% of first-quarter revenue, versus 28% for fiscal 2026. Two customers represented 49% and 17% of accounts receivable, respectively. Long expects customer concentration to stay high during large AI buildouts. However, Long expects concentration to improve as the enterprise and sovereign businesses grow.
Wedbush Managing Director Matt Bryson said Super Micro's fiscal first-quarter performance matched the strength Super Micro had previously indicated. Bryson said the second-quarter forecast indicates further revenue growth and strong margins. However, Bryson warned that continued AI infrastructure spending remains a major uncertainty. Super Micro's substantial exposure to neocloud customers creates concerns about financing and spending over the long term. Bryson welcomed the appointment of Mark Long as CFO. However, Bryson said earlier governance concerns and unresolved litigation involving a former co-founder could hurt investor sentiment.
Investors remain concerned about dependence on large AI cloud customers and whether infrastructure spending can maintain the current pace. Super Micro's improved forecast and Advanced Micro Devices' results strengthened expectations that AI infrastructure spending will continue.
Super Micro shares have lost 33.78% over the past 12 months, indicating continued selling pressure. At $34.02, Super Micro traded 3.8% below the 20-day simple moving average (SMA). The $34.02 price was 10.1% below the 50-day SMA. However, the $34.02 price was 4.6% above the 200-day SMA. The 20-day SMA sits below the 50-day SMA, indicating short-term weakness. The 50-day SMA sits above the 200-day SMA, suggesting longer-term support.
The moving average convergence divergence (MACD) indicator sits below the signal line and has a negative histogram, indicating weak upward momentum. Resistance is at $36.50. Support is near $31. A rise above resistance could reinforce the recovery. A decline below support could lead to additional selling.
