BlockBeats news, on August 7, according to The Information, fintech company Stripe is in exclusive acquisition talks with AI model aggregation platform OpenRouter, with a valuation of approximately $10 billion. Sources familiar with the matter said OpenRouter had previously received acquisition interest from several major tech companies, but Stripe is now in the exclusive negotiation phase. The deal has not been finalized, and specific terms may still change.
OpenRouter, founded in 2023, is an AI infrastructure platform that connects users with a variety of large language models, enabling developers to access AI models from companies such as OpenAI, Anthropic, and Google through a unified interface, and select models based on performance, price, and availability.
If the transaction is completed, it will become one of Stripe’s most significant moves in the AI space in recent years. Previously focused on payment infrastructure, financial services, and enterprise software, Stripe’s acquisition of OpenRouter could further expand its reach into AI developer infrastructure.
