Strategy (formerly MicroStrategy) sold 1,638 BTC worth $104.73 million between July 27 and August 2, 2026. The company used the proceeds to pay dividends on its preferred shares and to buy back STRC shares.
According to the company’s report, Strategy sold 1,638 BTC at an average price of $63,957 per bitcoin. After the sale, the company’s balance stood at 842,138 BTC, acquired for a total of $63.51 billion. The average purchase price for the entire portfolio is $75,419 per coin.
Strategy used virtually all of the proceeds from the bitcoin sale in two directions:
- $52.4 million — for dividends on preferred shares
- $52.3 million — for STRC share buybacks.
Overall, the company repurchased 912,143 STRC shares for $81.2 million. The average implied buyback price was about $89.02 per share versus a par value of $100, or roughly an 11% discount.
Sale of MSTR Shares
In addition to selling bitcoin, Strategy sold more than 3 million MSTR common shares through its at-the-market (ATM) program, generating $290.6 million in net proceeds. The company allocated the funds as follows:
- $250 million — to the dollar reserve
- $28.9 million — for additional STRC buybacks
- $11.7 million — to the overall cash balance.
As of August 2, 2026, the company’s dollar reserve stood at $4 billion. It is intended to fund dividend payments on preferred shares and service debt obligations.
In addition, following the transactions, Strategy has:
- $893.8 million in available capacity for further preferred-share buybacks
- $1 billion in capacity for MSTR common-share buybacks.
