ChainCatcher report: U.S. burger chain Steak 'n Shake stated on X that since beginning to accept Bitcoin payments in May 2025, the company has achieved double-digit comparable store sales growth, with franchise comparable store sales rising 19% this quarter. The company processes Bitcoin payments via the Lightning Network. Michael Boes, Steak 'n Shake’s Chief MAHA Officer, previously said at the Bitcoin 2026 conference that Bitcoin has become a core driver of the brand’s business performance. Comparable store sales increased 11% quarter-over-quarter in the second quarter of 2025 and accelerated to 15% in the third quarter, outpacing major competitors such as McDonald’s, Taco Bell, and Domino’s Pizza. By using Bitcoin payments, Steak 'n Shake saves approximately 50% in processing fees, as traditional credit card processors charge 2.5% to 3.5% per transaction. In January of this year, the company added $10 million in Bitcoin to its strategic reserves and had considered accepting other cryptocurrencies; however, after a poll on X showed users believed only Bitcoin was necessary, the company abandoned plans to adopt additional cryptos.
