A Stanford AI report shows that 84% of experts see AI benefits in healthcare, but only 44% of Americans agree. This gap also appears in views on job and economic impact, with 64% of Americans fearing job loss. The U.S. ranks lowest in trust for government AI regulation at 31%, compared to 81% in Singapore. Meanwhile, MiCA is advancing in the EU, and CFT measures are being strengthened globally as AI and crypto regulation evolve.

ME News reports that on April 14 (UTC+8), according to monitoring by 1M AI News, Stanford University’s Institute for Human-Centered Artificial Intelligence (HAI) released its 2026 AI Index Annual Report on April 13. The public perception section revealed a growing gap in understanding between AI professionals and the general public. The report cites survey data from the Pew Research Center published in March: only 10% of Americans reported feeling “more excited than concerned” about AI entering daily life, while 56% of AI experts believe AI will have a positive impact on the U.S. over the next 20 years. Disagreements are even more pronounced across specific domains: - Healthcare: 84% of experts are optimistic, compared to 44% of the public - Workplace impact: 73% of experts are optimistic, compared to 23% of the public - Economic impact: 69% of experts are optimistic, compared to 21% of the public Sixty-four percent of Americans believe AI will lead to job losses over the next 20 years. Ipsos survey data shows the U.S. has the lowest level of trust in government regulation of AI among all surveyed countries, at just 31%, while Singapore leads at 81%. According to the report, 41% of U.S. respondents believe federal AI regulation is insufficient, while 27% think it will be too strict. A positive indicator for AI: the global proportion of people who believe AI products and services do more good than harm rose from 55% in 2024 to 59% in 2025. The more optimistic experts become, the more anxious the public grows. Data from Pew and Ipsos suggests that ordinary people are not worried about superintelligence running amok—they’re concerned about next month’s paycheck and electricity bill. AI professionals focus on technological boundaries; the public cares about their livelihoods. They’re simply not talking about the same thing. (Source: BlockBeats)
