Standard Chartered forecasts the SKY token to reach $0.325 by 2028, a fivefold increase from $0.065. The bank cites growing USDS adoption and lending capacity as key drivers. Sky is the third-largest stablecoin issuer and the largest provider of yield-bearing assets. The projection places SKY ahead of Bitcoin and on par with Ethereum, which are expected to reach $300,000 and $18,000, respectively, by 2028. New token listings and launch announcements continue to attract attention as major banks weigh in on digital assets.

ME News reports that on September 11 (UTC+8), Standard Chartered Bank, a UK-based financial institution, initiated coverage of Sky’s SKY token and set a target price of $0.325 by the end of 2028—five times higher than the $0.065 referenced in the report. The bank expects that as USDS adoption and lending capacity expand, Sky will deliver more than five times the value to token holders by 2028 compared to current levels. Geoff Kendrick, Global Head of Digital Assets Research at Standard Chartered, stated that Sky, formerly known as MakerDAO, is a decentralized finance (DeFi) platform capable of issuing stablecoins, establishing governance frameworks, and charging wholesale interest rates to borrowers—functioning similarly to a “federal bank.” Sky primarily returns value to SKY holders through staking rewards, with token buybacks playing a minor role. Sky is the third-largest stablecoin issuer globally, after Tether and Circle, and the largest issuer of yield-bearing stablecoins. Standard Chartered anticipates that SKY will roughly track Ethereum’s performance and outperform Bitcoin by 2028; during the same period, the bank forecasts Ethereum and Bitcoin prices at $18,000 and $300,000, respectively. According to DeFiLlama data, the total value locked in Sky’s yield-bearing sUSDS token stands at $4.5 billion with an annualized yield of 3.6%. (Source: ODAILY)
