In the crypto market, SparkLend’s Ethereum USDT market held $11.95 million in available USDT for withdrawals on Oct. 29, with utilization at 96.29%. Suppliers deposited 322 million USDT, while 310 million was lent out. Supply APY stood at 6.9%, and variable borrowing APR hit 7.70%. The cash buffer restricts immediate redemptions. Utilization earlier this week topped 99%, pushing supply APY above 18%. On Oct. 28, Spark’s Liquidity Layer withdrew 14.52 million USDT, which impacted interest rates. A wallet transferred 150 million USDT from Aave V3 to Spark Savings on Oct. 5 and 6.

SparkLend’s Ethereum USDT market had about $11.95 million available to meet withdrawals on Oct. 29, with roughly 96.29% of its liquidity borrowed. The lending market held about 322 million USDT in supplier deposits against 310 million USDT in outstanding loans, according to its market dashboard and onchain token balances.

Suppliers were earning about 6.9% APY. The reserve’s latest rate-setting update, at 4:36:59 a.m. ET, recorded a variable borrowing APR of roughly 7.70%, equivalent to about 8% APY with compounding.

For lenders seeking to exit, the cash buffer—not the total deposited—is the immediate limit on collective withdrawals. Redemptions beyond the available USDT require borrowers to repay or fresh liquidity to enter the reserve. The USDT balance held by the reserve’s deposit-token contract was 11.947 million tokens.

The liquidity condition had been tighter earlier in the week. Spark said on Oct. 29 that USDT supply APY had “hit 18%+ this week” and utilization had exceeded 99%. Those are variable annualized rates, not a return locked in when a supplier deposits.

Withdrawals Also Move the Rate

Borrowing is not the only activity that changes utilization. An Oct. 28 transaction shows Spark’s own Liquidity Layer withdrawing 14.52 million USDT from SparkLend at 8:57:59 a.m. ET. The transaction also updated the reserve’s interest rates.

Spark’s documentation says its Liquidity Layer moves USDT, USDC and USDS into and out of SparkLend based on borrowing rates, utilization and inventory at other venues. That makes the available withdrawal buffer responsive to allocations as well as borrower repayments and user deposits.

The episode follows a separate movement of USDT away from Aave earlier this month. The Defiant previously reported that one wallet moved 150 million USDT from Aave V3 into Spark Savings in two transfers on Oct. 5 and 6, ET.

Those deposits went into Spark’s USDT savings vault, not directly into SparkLend. Spark Savings deploys funds through the Liquidity Layer, and its governance-managed depositor yield is distinct from the rate paid by SparkLend borrowers.
