Odaily Planet Daily report: SpaceX shares remained relatively stable on Thursday, following the expiration of the lock-up agreement that restricted insiders from selling shares, unlocking up to approximately 911.5 million shares, valued at around $100 billion based on current valuations.
Trading data shows that SpaceX's stock price fluctuated within a range of less than 3% during early trading, as the market absorbs the potential selling pressure from this large share release. Volume in the first 30 minutes after opening reached nearly 93 million shares, accounting for approximately 40% of the total volume from the previous trading day.
This lock-up expiration occurred shortly after SpaceX's first earnings report. Previously, SpaceX's stock had dropped by approximately 14% as investors expressed concerns over the larger-than-expected investment in the company’s artificial intelligence initiatives. However, most Wall Street analysts continue to maintain a long-term optimistic outlook for the company.
Market focus includes SpaceX’s future investment plans in AI, satellite internet, and mobile communications. Although facing short-term capital expenditure pressures, analysts believe the company’s leadership in rocket launches, the Starlink satellite network, and commercial spaceflight remains a key factor supporting its long-term valuation.
This approximately $100 billion stock lock-up expiration has become a key event testing investor confidence following SpaceX’s listing. The stock’s lack of significant volatility indicates that the market had already anticipated the release of insider liquidity. (Bloomberg)
