Odaily Planet Daily reports that Lee Jae-myung has already met with SK Group Chairman Choi Tae-won and plans to meet with Samsung Electronics Chairman Lee Jae-yong on the 26th, followed by consecutive talks with Hyundai Motor Group Chairman Chung Eui-sun. The parties will discuss issues including investment in the southwestern semiconductor cluster.
During the meeting, the implementation plans for three super projects—semiconductors, physical AI, and AI data centers—with a total scale of 475.5 trillion won will be a key focus. Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix have already announced in June their plans to build a semiconductor cluster in the southwestern region, and discussions are also underway regarding power and water supply systems.
The meeting between Lee Jae-myung and Jeong Ui-jae will center on the 9-trillion-won Saemangeum AI data center and robotics cluster project, while also addressing implementation barriers such as permits, power supply, and land use. Exceptions to the 52-hour workweek for R&D personnel, pressure regarding investment in the U.S., and labor issues will also be discussed. (ZDNet)
