According to Korean media, on the first day of South Korea’s financial regulator’s restrictions on individual stock leveraged ETFs, the total trading volume of 16 individual stock leveraged and inverse ETFs dropped to KRW 330.71 billion, a 75.3% decline from KRW 1.24485 trillion the previous day and a significant decrease compared to the July daily average of KRW 1.227 trillion. Among these, the trading volume of 14 major individual stock leveraged ETFs fell from KRW 693.54 billion to KRW 246.86 billion, a 64.4% decline.

South Korea’s new rules on leveraged ETFs caused a sharp drop in trading volume. On the first day of the restrictions, the total transaction volume for 16 individual stock leveraged and inverse ETFs fell to 33.071 billion KRW, a 75.3% decrease from 124.485 billion KRW the previous day. The average daily trading volume in July was 122.7 billion KRW. Among the 14 major leveraged ETFs, transaction volume dropped from 69.354 billion KRW to 24.686 billion KRW, a 64.4% decline.
