Soneium plans to launch its native ecosystem token, SONEIUM, shifting toward an on-chain entertainment economy. According to GoldNews, on October 26, Soneium, the Ethereum L2 network backed by Sony, announced its transition from a foundational blockchain to an on-chain entertainment economy centered around Tokenized IP, and plans to issue the native ecosystem token $SONEIUM, with details of its Token Generation Event (TGE) to be revealed later. Soneium stated that its ecosystem currently includes over 250 applications spanning music, gaming, anime, film and television, collectibles, and fan creations. Tokenized IP encompasses three categories: IP Tokens, which can be represented as collectibles or fungible tokens; IP Vaults, which provide exposure to royalty revenue assets; and IP Token Bonds, backed by entertainment company revenues. The first IP Token is Moriusa, a character IP owned by Tokyo Super State Holdings, alongside a collaboration with DayOneDream to tokenize K-pop concert royalties involving BTOB, LEE CHAE YEON, MEMI, and 2F. The underlying infrastructure consists of a three-layer architecture: IP Registry, IP Graph, and IP Execution Layer, supporting the ERC-8432 licensing standard; the official platform is Soneium Portal, with user access via the Startale App. Yuji Kumagai, Head of Soneium Protocol, stated that the protocol will empower creators to finance their future works at a new scale.
