As per DL News, Solana’s validator count has dropped by 64% since early 2023, falling from around 2,500 to under 900. Supporters argue the decline is beneficial, citing the removal of underperforming and malicious validators. Tomas Eminger of RockawayX stated that the network is thriving without these bottlenecks. The Solana Foundation has reduced its support for validators, removing three for every new one added. This move aims to reduce reliance on the foundation and improve decentralization. Analysts also note that the geographical distribution of validators remains diverse, with no single provider dominating the network.
