Odaily Planet Daily report: SoftBank will announce its first-quarter financial results for fiscal year 2026 this Thursday, with market attention focused on how it continues to fund OpenAI and AI infrastructure projects. For the fiscal year ending March 2026, SoftBank recorded its highest net profit in history, but since early June this year, the company’s stock price has declined nearly by half, and the cost of credit default swaps (CDS) has risen sharply. Additionally, SoftBank has committed over $60 billion to OpenAI and related projects, with approximately $30 billion in funding commitments maturing in the second half of 2026.
Some analysts believe that even if AI company valuations decline, SoftBank will still face significant pressure. Until enterprise customers truly demonstrate that AI can enhance productivity, SoftBank, Arm, and the memory chip sector may continue to face downward pressure.
