Huo Xing Finance reports that on October 28, SK Hynix reported an operating profit of W83.3 trillion for the third quarter, setting a new record and surpassing the market expectation of W76.7 trillion aggregated by LSEG, and approximately 7.3 times the W11.4 trillion recorded in the same period last year. Quarterly revenue increased 328% year-over-year to W104.6 trillion, driven by sustained demand for AI infrastructure pushing up prices for memory chips. The company plans to implement a shareholder return program totaling approximately W100 trillion (about $75.4 billion) by 2026. According to the company’s announcement, this includes at least W30 trillion in cash dividends and at least W60 trillion in share buybacks and cancellations, including the W40 trillion buyback announced in August. The company stated that the W40 trillion buyback was completed last week, and the related shares will be canceled shortly. Regarding supply and demand, SK Hynix reaffirmed that the situation in which memory chip demand exceeds supply is expected to persist until 2030. To enhance visibility into medium- and long-term demand, the company has signed long-term supply agreements with 14 major customers. The contracted volumes now cover more than 50% of total capacity for 2027 and 2028, and the company is actively engaging with multiple customers to extend contract durations beyond the typical five-year term. According to data from the BIT stock platform, driven by the positive earnings report, SK Hynix’s stock rose 9.05%, while South Korea’s KOSPI index increased approximately 6.14% during the same period.
