ChainCatcher report: At FMS 2026, SK hynix announced the joint release of the first High Bandwidth Flash (HBF) specification with SanDisk, approximately six months after the two companies formed their alliance in February this year. The standard, made public via OCP, defines key specifications including capacity (up to 512GB), bandwidth (three tiers, up to approximately 3.0 TB/s), and the use of the UCIe interconnect interface. Google and Tenstorrent have confirmed their participation in the HBF alliance. HBF is positioned as a new memory tier between HBM and SSD, combining HBM-level high-speed data transfer with the large-capacity scalability of NAND. During the event, SK hynix unveiled its 10th-generation (V10) 375-layer 4D NAND wafer and product for the first time, offering 2.5x improved energy efficiency over the previous generation, with mass production expected in early next year. In its keynote presentation, SK hynix executives proposed a “Tiered Memory” architecture to address data processing challenges in the AI inference era.
