Huo Xing Cai Jing reports that on August 4, citing Digitimes supply chain sources, SK Hynix, Micron (MU), and Samsung Electronics have sold out their 2027 DRAM and HBM capacity. Customers are currently only able to secure approximately 60% to 70% of their initial demand. Serenity stated that current storage supply constraints exceed market expectations, and 2027 may enter the “most severe storage shortage phase.” Meanwhile, annual NAND capacity from SanDisk (SNDK), Samsung Electronics, and Micron has also been fully reserved, with Kioxia and SK Hynix expected to complete their capacity allocation by August 2026. Serenity noted that although some market observers previously anticipated a storage surplus by mid-2027, current supply chain data shows that major memory manufacturers have already sold out their capacity ahead of time, leaving supply-demand dynamics still tight. It is understood that capacity allocation quotas between manufacturers and customers are largely finalized, but final product prices will be determined closer to delivery based on market conditions. Ongoing infrastructure development for AI continues to drive demand for HBM and high-end DRAM, which may become a key factor in future storage supply constraints.
Serenity Reports 2027 DRAM/HBM Capacity Fully Booked Amid Persistent Storage Shortage
MarsBitShare
Serenity reports that 2027 DRAM/HBM capacity is fully booked, as storage shortages outpace digital asset market forecasts. Clients are securing only 60–70% of their initial demand, with 2027 potentially entering the most severe shortage phase. NAND capacity from Western Digital, Samsung, and Micron is also sold out, while Kioxia and SK Hynix will finalize allocations by August 2026. AI infrastructure continues to drive demand for HBM and high-end DRAM, keeping supply constrained. The Fear and Greed Index remains skewed toward scarcity, with pricing decisions pending until closer to delivery.
