The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has approved the DTCC to manage tokenized stocks using blockchain technology. The move, led by SEC Chairman Paul Atkins, allows the DTCC to custody and confirm tokenized assets via blockchain, aiming to boost market efficiency and transparency. On-chain transfers will enable direct movement of tokenized securities between registered wallets, with real-time updates to DTCC records. Atkins stressed the need for updated regulations to match global innovation in blockchain technology.
