Scroll announced a network upgrade to transition from a general-purpose Layer 2 to an AI-specific blockchain, centered on its Compass AI product ecosystem. The transition will take approximately nine months. Compass includes AI models, a VPN, eSIM, and API access to over 30 LLMs. CENO, built with ZK technology, has 30 potential clients. SCR will remain on the Ethereum mainnet. The DAO will review the plan once finalized. This move aligns with emerging trends in AI and crypto.

BlockBeats news: On September 9, the Ethereum L2 Scroll team announced recent progress on its governance forum, stating its plan to gradually transition Scroll from a general-purpose public chain into a private, application-specific network built around Compass and its AI product ecosystem, with the full transition expected to take approximately nine months. Scroll noted that over the past several months, the team has integrated AI into network operations and product development, and is currently building a product ecosystem comprising Compass, Compass API, CENO, USX, and SCR.

Among these, Compass provides AI models along with features such as VPN and eSIM, while Compass API offers routing services for over 30 LLM models. CENO leverages ZK technology to provide a trust layer for AI agents, enabling credentials, context, and privacy-preserving computations. The team reports that CENO currently has over 30 potential customers, 12 of which are undergoing proof-of-concept (POC) testing; Compass remains in the early stage of consumer validation. As part of its network transition plan, SCR will migrate to the Ethereum mainnet to maintain broad accessibility and liquidity. Scroll states that the supply of SCR and its overall tokenomics will remain unchanged, and SCR will continue to serve as the governance token for the Scroll network.

Scroll emphasizes that this post is solely an update on progress and not a formal proposal or vote. The team will submit a network transition plan for DAO consideration once the relevant details have been finalized.
