ChainThink reports that, on August 4, according to European Commission documents, Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF) and a consortium of investors have received EU approval to acquire video game developer EA for $55 billion.
EA confirmed in a regulatory filing submitted last Thursday that it had received all necessary regulatory approvals as of July 30 and expects the transaction to be completed on August 4.
The transaction was first announced in September 2025, with buyers including PIF, Silver Lake, and Affinity Partners, in a fully cash-acquisition deal valuing EA at approximately $55 billion.
EA stated that this transaction will become the largest all-cash privatization acquisition.
