Odaily Planet Daily reports: On the 20th, Samsung SDS announced the launch of NPU-as-a-Service (NPUaaS) on the Samsung Cloud Platform (SCP), powered by FuriosaAI’s second-generation neural network processor, Renegade (RGND). Renegade is a domestically developed Korean NPU designed for AI inference tasks such as generating responses from trained AI models, document analysis, and image recognition.
Samsung SDS states that NPUaaS customers do not need to directly purchase NPU servers or build their own data centers; instead, they can access NPU resources via SCP on a subscription basis. Enterprises can choose to use one, two, four, or eight NPU units based on their needs and data scale, and integrate them with SCP’s high-performance storage, computing, and high-speed networking solutions.
Samsung SDS also stated that the NPUaaS will be available within the SCP sovereign cloud environment to support public sector customers subject to strict security regulations. Lee Ho-jun, Head of Samsung SDS’s Cloud Services Division, said the company will continue to expand its product portfolio based on SCP.
