ChainThink reports that since May, Samsung Electronics' LSI division has been using Anthropic's AI programming tool, Claude Code, for preliminary development of customer-specific SoC functionality verification and semiconductor development software.
In a recent customer-specific SoC project, Samsung reduced the time required to set up and conduct verification from over a month to just two days, internally assessing a roughly 15-fold increase in workflow speed.
This project involves 64 data paths, and some standardized design documentation and the DRAM controller RTL have not been provided in a timely manner.
Samsung also stated that an engineer with only two years of experience used Claude Code, despite having no prior experience with it, to complete the development and operational validation of USB keyboard and mouse models in a single day—a task that typically takes about a month—and further developed the Android USB device driver.
The company stated that it aims to leverage AI to enhance the productivity of its existing designers; however, internal evaluations have found that generative AI still requires strictly defined operational boundaries and manual review of outputs.
