OLED supply for foldable devices is targeted to rise from approximately 8 million units this year to 15 million units next year, while OLED supply for iPads is expected to increase from about 2 million units this year to 9 million units next year, bringing the total from approximately 10 million units this year to about 24 million units next year. Apple is a core customer for Samsung Display’s small- and medium-sized OLED panels. Market research firm UBI Research estimates that total OLED demand for iPhones this year will be around 264.7 million units, with Samsung Display supplying approximately 144 million units, and targeting about 148 million units next year. Apple is set to launch its first foldable smartphone in the second half of this year, and Samsung Display plans to supply 7.8-inch foldable OLED panels. iPads began adopting OLED panels in Pro models starting in 2024, expanded to the mini model this year, and are expected to extend to the Air model next year. According to industry sources cited in the report, if foldable devices are priced at around $2,500, shipments may reach approximately 6 million units this year and 11 million units next year; higher prices or supply chain issues could further reduce shipments. Samsung Display’s supply targets may be adjusted according to market conditions.
