New York, October 23, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- S&P Global Ratings, the world’s leading independent credit rating agency, today launched a new interactive dashboard dynamically showcasing its coverage of rated data centers in North America, encompassing project finance, corporate, and structured finance asset-backed securities (SF ABS).
This dashboard integrates information from these three areas, providing a market overview, issuer profiles and comparisons, and insights into which states' capacity is being leased. The tool was launched alongside S&P Global Ratings’ Q4 Review, “North America Data Center Roundup: Fourth-Quarter 2026,” released on October 16, 2026.
Vishal Merani, Managing Director and Head of the Global Digital Infrastructure Team at S&P Global Ratings, said: "Our rated North American data center universe currently covers 32 digital infrastructure transactions, with a total debt issuance of $105.3 billion across project finance, structured finance ABS, and corporate sectors."
Dhaval Shah, Director at S&P Global Ratings, said: "As demand continues to grow, integrating this information in an interactive format enables a more comprehensive view of our rated data center coverage."
Key points of the Q4 summary include:
- S&P Global Ratings currently rates 32 digital infrastructure transactions across three categories in North America: project finance (PF), corporate, and structured finance asset-backed securities (SF ABS). By number of issuers, SF ABS issuers lead at 50%, followed by PF issuers at 28%, and corporate issuers at 22%.
- The total debt issuance by rated issuers reached $105.3 billion, with PF accounting for 58.3%, SF ABS for 26.4%, and corporate for 15.3%.
- These rated transactions are backed by 143 properties, offering approximately 8.7 gigawatts of capacity to tenants in North America.
- S&P Global Ratings expects strong demand for data centers to persist in the foreseeable future, driven by exponential growth in data volumes, cloud migration, and the ongoing digitalization of the global economy.
- S&P Global Ratings believes that power restrictions, permitting challenges, public opposition, and regulatory responses may delay or limit the development of new data centers.
