Citing BitcoinSistemi, S&P Global downgraded Tether (USDT) to the lowest stability level, 'vulnerable – weak,' citing increased high-risk assets in its reserves, including Bitcoin (BTC). Tether criticized the rating, arguing S&P Global misunderstands the nature of digital-native currency and ignored data on USDT's durability and transparency. S&P also recently downgraded Bitcoin-focused firm Strategy (formerly MicroStrategy) to junk status, citing its heavy reliance on BTC and weak capital structure.
