According to ME News, on September 5 (UTC+8), the cross-chain interoperability protocol Router Protocol will cease operations on September 30, 2026. The project team stated that substantial capital has shifted toward areas such as AI, leaving Web3 experiencing liquidity scarcity. Following a market cycle, the cross-chain sector has seen intensified competition and compressed fees, making it difficult to sustain infrastructure operating costs. Although the team actively explored all viable commercialization paths over the past year—including licensing, partnerships, and acquisitions—none succeeded. Router Protocol announced it will burn the 303,333,198 ROUTE tokens pending in its treasury and coordinate with centralized exchanges to delist ROUTE. Holders must withdraw their tokens within the deadlines set by each exchange. Afterward, Router will not launch any new initiatives related to ROUTE; however, it will open-source select core technology components for continued community use. (Source: Foresight News)
