Huo Xing Finance reports that on August 5, Rocket Lab secured a $397 million contract from the U.S. Space Force for the Space-Based Adaptive Moving Target Indicator (SB-AMTI) project. Serenity stated that this contract signifies Rocket Lab’s growing role within the U.S. military space architecture. Under the terms of the contract, Rocket Lab will be responsible for developing, launching, and operating multiple Flatellite satellites equipped with space-based sensors and communication links to provide the U.S. Space Force with target detection, tracking, and data services. Serenity believes the core value of this contract lies not only in the nearly $400 million in revenue but also in the U.S. defense establishment’s recognition of Rocket Lab’s low Earth orbit satellite constellation capabilities. The company plans to use its Neutron medium-lift launch vehicle to deploy these satellites, further advancing its transition from a small rocket company to a comprehensive space infrastructure provider. The SB-AMTI project is managed by the U.S. Space Force’s Space Awareness and Targeting Division, with the goal of establishing a space-based system for detecting and tracking aerial threats. The contract also includes options for increasing the number of Flatellite satellites in the future. Rocket Lab CEO Peter Beck said the company is honored to participate in the SB-AMTI project, which is critical to building a layered and resilient tracking architecture for the U.S. Space Force.
