Citing MetaEra, RNS.ID, the digital ID project for the Republic of Palau, announced on October 24 (UTC+8) that it is addressing the misuse of fake Palau IDs to bypass KYC checks. The project will implement a secondary verification process and synchronize a global fraud blacklist. Measures include providing an official API to verify document numbers, issue dates, photos, and birth dates; marking failed secondary verifications as fraudulent and updating the database; permanently banning confirmed fake or impersonated users, and including their details in a global fraud database for automatic detection. Evidence will also be collected and handed over to jurisdictions like China for criminal prosecution of document forgery and fraud.
