Ripple is bringing XRP into the broader world of collegiate sports. On September 4, the University of Florida Athletic Department announced a multi-year partnership with Ripple, with the XRP logo appearing on both 25-yard lines at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium. The partnership is reported to be worth approximately $5 million annually.
Sponsorship covers the stadium and digital channels.
This partnership includes not only stadium branding but also digital channels, offline events, and financial technology educational content. Previously, Ripple signed a five-year partnership agreement with the University of Kansas Athletics Department, with the XRP brand now appearing on team uniforms and other athletic assets.
With the two partnerships combined, Ripple is taking XRP from within the crypto industry to a broader, mainstream sports audience. College football has a stable and large viewer base, and this exposure helps introduce the XRP brand to non-crypto users.
Brand exposure is rising faster than the token price
However, brand promotion has not been reflected in the token's price. The report notes that XRP was trading at approximately $1.45 in early September, still about 48% lower than a year ago. This means that while Ripple is increasing XRP’s offline visibility, the token’s price remains significantly below its 2025 levels.
The article also notes that the University of Florida does not need to hold XRP or be obligated to use the XRP Ledger for payments. This suggests that the partnership is more focused on brand marketing rather than directly driving on-chain usage or token demand.
The market continues to focus on more direct catalysts.
From a market perspective, sports sponsorship alone is unlikely to determine XRP’s next move. Traders are currently more focused on regulatory developments, institutional demand, ETF fund flows, and the overall crypto market environment.
However, Ripple’s strategy is already quite clear: its partnership with the University of Kansas places XRP in athlete-related contexts, while its collaboration with the University of Florida further brings the brand directly into the heart of the playing field. For Ripple, this is less about immediate gains and more about building long-term public awareness for XRP.
