Ripple CTO Emeritus David Schwartz unboxed a gift of Fuzzy trading cards on X on October 22, revealing no knowledge of the sender. The Fuzzybear (FUZZY) meme coin, built on the XRP Ledger, has seen its price rise over 100% in a week. Fuzzycards lets NFT holders redeem physical packs. On-chain data shows growing interest in the token. Schwartz has not endorsed the project, but his post may spark renewed debate. On-chain analysis suggests increased activity around the token’s address movements.

Ripple CTO Emeritus David Schwartz displayed a box of FUZZY trading cards on X on October 22. Schwartz said Schwartz did not know who had sent the gift. Schwartz nevertheless thanked the FUZZY account, adding a question mark. Schwartz repeatedly said during May that Schwartz did not endorse the token, so the unboxing could revive debate over endorsement.

Fuzzybear (FUZZY) is a meme coin that trades on the XRP Ledger. The token takes its name from Fuzzybear, an early XRP Ledger wallet dating to the network's launch. FUZZY's price more than doubled over the past week. The largest increase occurred on October 20, two days before Schwartz's post.

The cards are part of Fuzzycards, a trading card game associated with FUZZY. The project team says holders can redeem each card NFT for a physical booster pack containing five cards. The team says every hero card includes a riddle based on XRP Ledger history.

Schwartz established a trust line for FUZZY earlier this year. A trust line is a wallet setting that permits ownership of an asset issued on the XRP Ledger. Schwartz described establishing the trust line as routine. Schwartz said days later that viewing meme coins as investments felt distasteful. FUZZY holders have previously interpreted Schwartz's minor gestures as meaningful signals. Schwartz's switch to a FUZZY profile picture in May attracted criticism because an avatar change requires no technical action.

FUZZY's XRP pair holds about $992,000 in liquidity, ranking third among automated market maker (AMM) pools on the XRP Ledger. Only the XRP pairs involving CRYPTO and Ripple's stablecoin RLUSD have greater liquidity. AMM pools allow token exchanges through shared reserves rather than an order book. The token gains free publicity from appearing in a prominent developer's kitchen. Schwartz faces difficulty maintaining neutrality when holders interpret friendly gestures as signals.

Schwartz discussed XRP Ledger lending proposals this month. A selfie showing Schwartz in front of a billboard featuring actress Sydney Sweeney also circulated widely. Schwartz's trading card post addressed neither FUZZY's price nor Schwartz's earlier position on meme coins. Schwartz said in September that XRP could eventually surpass Bitcoin in market capitalization.
