CoinDesk reports:

FULTON, Md., Oct. 22 /PRNewswire/ — AI-powered offensive cyber operations company RemoteThreat today announced expansions to its executive team with the appointments of Joe Castellanos as Vice President of Product and Taylor Pettis as Vice President of Marketing. Both will join founder and CEO Chris Thompson, CTO Shawn Jones, and COO Rob McCall. The company stated that these appointments will support the team as it accelerates the deployment of the O/C/O Platform—the first commercial, fully integrated, end-to-end offensive cyber operations platform.

These appointments come just weeks after RemoteThreat emerged from stealth. Previously, the company announced a $7 million pre-seed funding round led by Osage University Partners and DataTribe, established a strategic advisory partnership with The Nakasone Group, and joined the U.S. Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) SOF RACER (Special Operations Forces Rapid Acquisition Consortium for Emerging Requirements) program. Castellanos will oversee the product vision and roadmap for the O/C/O Platform; Pettis will lead global marketing strategy and growth initiatives to help establish RemoteThreat as a globally recognized leader in offensive cybersecurity.

Chris Thompson, co-founder and CEO of RemoteThreat, said: “We are building the most sophisticated offensive cyber operations platform on the market today, which requires a seasoned leadership team capable of execution. Joe and Taylor bring the background and skills we need in this field.”

He added, “Although we only officially launched a few weeks ago, our team and market have already been moving at a pace that demands continuous, high-efficiency execution. Joe has taken products from concept to significant revenue at some of the most demanding security and identity companies, while Taylor has built brands for multiple fast-growing tech companies. Together, they will bring leadership in product and market entry, turning this momentum into category leadership.”

Joe Castellanos, Vice President of Product

Castellanos is a senior executive in enterprise products with over 15 years of experience building and scaling cybersecurity products. He spent the first half of his career in defensive security, where he launched Entra ID Governance at Microsoft, led the internal identity governance platform at Salesforce, and introduced Okta DynamicScale. Through this work, he observed that enterprises allocated massive budgets to security controls but lacked visibility into whether those controls were effective against real-world adversaries. This insight led him to shift toward offensive security: first launching AppOmni Discovery at AppOmni, and later overseeing the entire product portfolio at Bugcrowd, including the expansion into AI-powered penetration testing with Pathseeker.

He has successfully advanced multiple products from concept to significant revenue scale and has led high-performing product teams at startups and global technology organizations. He has also spoken at Microsoft Ignite and Oktane.

At RemoteThreat, Castellanos leads the company’s product strategy and development, shaping solutions that drive offensive cyber operations to deliver measurable value to enterprise red teams, government mission teams, and defense partners.

Castellanos said: "The red team was tasked with simulating adversaries whose capabilities evolve faster than modeling tools. RemoteThreat is the first company I've seen that addresses this challenge with an integrated platform, rather than introducing another point solution."

He also said, "Throughout my career, I've been executing the very operations these platforms are designed for. My job is to ensure the O/C/O Platform keeps pace with the next needs of these operators—and delivers them faster than anyone expects."

Taylor Pettis, Vice President of Marketing

Pettis is a global marketing executive with over 20 years of experience helping early-stage and private equity-backed technology companies accelerate growth, establish market leadership, and achieve long-term expansion. Throughout his career, he has guided multiple companies through critical growth phases, including cybersecurity firms Code42, Intel 471, and SOCRadar. His expertise spans demand generation, product marketing, brand strategy, market entry execution, and building high-performance marketing organizations.

As Vice President of Marketing, Pettis will be responsible for RemoteThreat’s global marketing strategy and growth initiatives, with a focus on establishing RemoteThreat as a world-renowned cybersecurity brand while driving meaningful and sustainable business growth.

Pettis said: "RemoteThreat possesses the three things every marketer wants but rarely has all at once: a category being defined in real time, a product years ahead of the market, and a team of founders with the highest credibility in this field."

He added, "The company's stealth launch has demonstrated how quickly this team can move. My focus is on ensuring that every red team lead, mission owner, and defense partner knows that RemoteThreat is the name in offensive cyber operations."

A team designed to outperform the competition

Castellanos and Pettis joined a leadership team composed of seasoned offensive security veterans. Thompson and Jones bring decades of experience building and leading adversary simulation teams, developing malware and offensive tools, and conducting red team operations against defense targets, nuclear power plants, critical infrastructure providers, and some of the world’s largest financial institutions prior to founding RemoteThreat. McCall joined after years of early-stage investments in cybersecurity and AI startups; most recently, he led customer success and support at Randori, one of the first continuous automated red teaming (CART) providers, which was later acquired by IBM.

Jones said: "The gap between what AI-powered adversaries can achieve and what red teams can simulate is widening every month. Bridging this gap is both an engineering and a product challenge."

He added, "Joe has delivered products that operations teams actually adopt in highly demanding environments. Combining this discipline with our research and engineering teams means the platform will improve at the speed our customers need."

McCall said: “Since launch, demand from enterprise red teams and mission teams has exceeded our own expectations. Our current challenge is scaling without compromising the precision our customers expect. Joe and Taylor bring the operational discipline and growth strategies needed to achieve this. This team will take RemoteThreat from launch phase to category leader.”

Continue building momentum on the release.

RemoteThreat ended its stealth mode earlier this month with the launch of the O/C/O Platform. The platform integrates eight interconnected systems into a single operational view for planning, executing, and adjusting offensive cyber operations, including: mission planning, native command and control (C2), implants, initial access frameworks, advanced capabilities, obfuscation pipelines, analytics engines, and AI-assisted operations. Designed for operators with specialized expertise, the platform enables enterprises and critical infrastructure red teams to simulate sophisticated adversaries and stay ahead of advancements in cutting-edge cyber capabilities, while allowing U.S. government mission teams and vetted defense partners to conduct offensive cyber operations at mission speed.

Since its launch, the company has announced a $7 million pre-seed funding round led by Osage University Partners and DataTribe, established a strategic advisory partnership with The Nakasone Group, founded by retired U.S. Army four-star general and former Director of the National Security Agency and Commander of U.S. Cyber Command Paul M. Nakasone, joined the USSOCOM SOF RACER consortium, and entered into a capability integration partnership with Talon Defense. The company is currently actively recruiting senior operators, researchers, and engineers for its offensive capabilities, platform, and market entry teams.

The O/C/O Platform is currently available to qualified enterprise customers, U.S. government clients, and vetted defense industry customers. To apply for access or schedule a briefing, visit remotethreat.com.
