It reduces the average latency per word (LAAL, measuring average lag in simultaneous interpretation) from 2.8 seconds in the previous generation to 2.3 seconds, and adds real-time speaker separation, synchronized output of source and translated text, and long-context disambiguation. The model can now distinguish between different speakers, map translations to specific utterances, and maintain stable voice characteristics for each speaker. Source and translated text are returned in synchronized streaming fashion. The model also leverages prior context to identify names, terminology, and references, reducing ambiguity caused by analyzing only the current sentence. API pricing remains virtually unchanged from the previous generation.
