Qualcomm and Amazon Collaborate on Custom AI Data Center Chips

Qualcomm (QCOM.O) and Amazon (AMZN.O) have launched a multi-generational partnership to develop custom AI data center chips. The agreement encompasses optical interconnects up to 1.6T and future upgrades. Qualcomm will leverage AWS AI tools, including Amazon Bedrock, for EDA workloads to accelerate chip design. Qualcomm CEO Cristiano Amon stated that growing AI demand is driving innovation in data centers. AWS VP Prasad Kalyanaraman added that the goal is improved efficiency and reduced costs. This development occurs amid rising interest in AI and crypto, alongside shifting inflation data.
