On September 9, Pons founder Ozzy addressed interest rate news, clarifying that the platform does not adjust tax rates following new token listings. He explained that some terminals route trades to liquidity pools with higher taxes, resulting in users observing elevated rates. Pons confirmed that its Uniswap V4 pools have a 0% tax and a 1% Hook fee. Ozzy warned that malicious actors may also cause incorrect routing. The platform urged terminals to resolve the issue, as it increases costs and creates confusion. Users seeing tax rates above 1% should check for routing errors, not policy changes.

According to Huoxing Finance, on September 9, Ozzy, founder and lead developer of Pons, published a response addressing recent controversies regarding the claim that “tax rates can be modified after token issuance on the platform.” He stated that Pons does not support altering tax rates after token listing, and assertions that “Pons can adjust tax rates post-launch” are incorrect. Pons clarified that certain trading terminals incorrectly route buy and sell orders to liquidity pools with higher tax rates. Although the Uniswap V4 pool initialized by Pons is fully liquid and features a 0% tax rate with a 1% Hook fee—which is transparently disclosed on all transactions—some terminals may still direct trades to higher-tax pools. Ozzy further explained that when malicious actors attempt to “vamp” (drain or attack) the relevant liquidity pools, some trading terminals may display inflated transaction tax rates due to misconfigured routers and varying pool selections. As a result, users may observe fluctuating tax rates—not because Pons has changed the rate, but because trades are being incorrectly routed to higher-tax pools. Ozzy has requested that affected trading terminals rectify this issue, as incorrect rate displays and misrouting not only increase users’ transaction costs but also risk triggering unnecessary market panic. Pons emphasized that its Hook pool fee remains fixed at 1%. If users observe a tax rate higher than 1%, it is likely due to trades being routed to an incorrect liquidity pool—unless the token deployer originally set a higher rate at launch. Therefore, any fee exceeding 1% during a transaction does not indicate that Pons altered the tax rate after launch.
