New York, October 22, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Pomerantz LLP announces that it has filed a class action lawsuit against AppLovin Corporation (“AppLovin” or the “Company,” NASDAQ: APP) and certain of its executives.
This class action lawsuit has been filed in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, Case No. 26-cv-10584. The class represented includes all individuals and entities that purchased or otherwise acquired AppLovin securities between February 12, 2026, and August 5, 2026, inclusive (the “Class Period”), excluding the defendants. The lawsuit seeks to recover damages alleged to have resulted from the defendants’ violations of federal securities laws, and seeks relief against the company and certain of its executives pursuant to Section 10(b) and Section 20(a) of the Securities Exchange Act of 1934, and Rule 10b-5 thereunder.
If you purchased or otherwise acquired AppLovin securities during the class period, you may request that the court appoint you as lead plaintiff by November 16, 2026. AppLovin provides end-to-end, AI-driven advertising solutions for businesses to help them reach, monetize, and grow their global audiences. Specifically, AppLovin’s advertising solutions are said to leverage AI models to more efficiently match ads with potential consumers and assist corporate clients in achieving advertising goals, including user acquisition objectives.
The complaint alleges that, during all relevant periods, the defendants promoted the purported strong performance of the AppLovin AI model as a primary driver of the company’s growth and told investors that AppLovin was “continuously improving” its model. The defendants described a “virtuous cycle” of improvement and revenue generation: better models delivered higher returns to advertiser clients, incentivizing them to increase spending on AppLovin’s services and/or encouraging new clients to adopt AppLovin’s services. Greater engagement from existing and/or new clients, in turn, provided AppLovin with more data, enabling the company to further enhance its AI model. During the class period, the defendants told investors that they had seen “faster improvements” in the model and stated, “We actually don’t see any reason why this would slow down.”
Prior to the class action lawsuit, AppLovin had launched a self-service platform for select customers. On June 22, 2026, AppLovin opened this platform, called AppLovin Ads, to all customers. Among other features, the defendant also consistently promoted an upcoming generative AI video creative tool, claiming it would enable customers to create content specifically designed for the AppLovin Ads platform.
The complaint alleges that, throughout the class period, the defendants made material false and misleading statements regarding the company’s business, operations, and prospects. Specifically, the defendants made false and/or misleading statements and/or failed to disclose that: (i) there were significant development delays with the generative AI video creative feature on the company’s AppLovin Ads platform, making it unlikely to be released according to the company’s timeline; (ii) the defendants overstated the stability of AppLovin’s ongoing improvements to its AI models; (iii) based on these and other reasons, AppLovin significantly overstated the benefits and reliability of the so-called “virtuous cycle” and “compounding” value proposition its AI models purportedly delivered to customers and the company; and (iv) as a result, the defendants’ public statements were materially false and misleading throughout all relevant periods.
The complaint alleges that the truth began to emerge on July 13, 2026, when an analyst at Bank of America Securities released a report stating that e-commerce ad growth in June underperformed expectations and expressing concerns about the progress toward the full rollout of AppLovin Ads to all advertisers. A review by Bank of America Securities of publicly available e-commerce data showed that “AppLovin’s e-commerce reach expanded at a slower pace in June,” leading the analyst to conclude that the general availability (GA) launch of AppLovin Ads had a “modest … start.” Consequently, based on the “slow initial ramp-up of GA,” Bank of America Securities lowered its full-year revenue forecast for AppLovin.
Following the release of this report, AppLovin's stock price dropped by $64.13 per share, or 12.65%, closing at $442.85 per share on July 13, 2026.
On August 5, 2026, AppLovin issued a press release announcing its financial results for the quarter ended June 30, 2026, and held a conference call to discuss the results. Among other things, AppLovin reported revenue of $1.92 billion, below the market consensus expectation of $1.94 billion. The defendant attributed the quarterly performance to a “slower pace of meaningful model improvements,” stating that this pace was “below normal for the quarter.” The defendant also disclosed that its generative AI video tool “is still under development.”
Affected by this news, AppLovin's stock price dropped by $82.13 per share, or 19.66%, closing at $335.67 per share on August 6, 2026.
