Polkadot boosts ecosystem growth with a new user strategy centered on dotUSD, announced via OpenGov on October 12. The plan ties web and mobile products to DOT demand through stable-value assets. OpenGov Referendum 1944 passed with 98.4% support, backed by 4.3 million DOT. It includes a DOT-dotUSD liquidity pool and treasury funding for early liquidity. The move supports new token listings and aims to expand the network’s reach.

Polkadot is prioritizing user adoption through a new strategy proposed in its OpenGov governance system on October 12. The plan places dotUSD at the center of efforts to attract users, linking consumer-facing web and mobile products to demand for DOT through permissionless, DOT-backed stable-value assets.

dotUSD Leads Adoption Strategy

The proposal prioritizes user growth over ecosystem size and the capital locked in applications. It gives dotUSD priority for support while allowing competing implementations to remain eligible.

The strategy follows dotUSD’s October 8 mainnet launch, after OpenGov Referendum 1944 received 98.4% support, representing about 4.3 million DOT. The vote also approved a DOT-dotUSD liquidity pool and treasury funding for early trading liquidity.

The plan proposes a Polkadot Product Platform covering services such as data storage, logistics and communications. The DAO could fund user incentives and targeted campaigns to encourage adoption.

Web2 Experience With Web3 Principles

The platform would prioritize mobile-friendly products, free basic features and simpler account identification without long crypto addresses. Products would still need to protect users’ funds, personal information and control over shared data.

The proposal also calls for deploying Individuality, which uses zero-knowledge cryptography and co-attestation, in production. The Polkadot Fellowship and funded organizations would retain technical autonomy while supporting the broader strategy.

Implementation remains subject to further technical reviews and governance decisions.
