Pirate Chain announced an urgent blockchain upgrade following an on-chain alert regarding a minting vulnerability. Attackers exploited two flaws to mint 39.82 million fake ARRR tokens, increasing the supply by 20%. The chain was rolled back to block 4,176,944, and account balances were restored. All forged tokens were removed, preserving the maximum supply at 200 million. The v6.14 update requires full node reindexing. A technical report will be released shortly.

According to Mars Finance, the privacy coin project Pirate Chain has released a mandatory update, v6.14, requiring all nodes, mining pools, and exchanges to disable old versions and upgrade immediately. Attackers exploited two validation vulnerabilities to mint approximately 39.82 million fake ARRR tokens in the transparent coinbase pool, temporarily increasing the total supply by about 20%. Both vulnerabilities have since been patched. Following consensus among the community, mining pools, exchanges, and dPoW notary nodes, the chain has been rolled back to block 4,176,944 prior to the attack. All forged tokens have been removed, balances have been restored to their pre-attack state, and the maximum supply remains at 200 million. Upon first launching the new version, the system will automatically reindex the entire chain; a comprehensive technical post-mortem report will be published later.
