Perplexity, a name frequently mentioned in AI and crypto news, recently launched Teammates, an AI agent system designed to emulate human employees. The company built approximately 10,000 AI Teammates in 30 days—20 times the size of its human workforce. Built on Perplexity Computer, these agents can be assigned roles, goals, and permissions to autonomously track progress and resolve issues. They also integrate with Slack to communicate with human team members. The system currently supports marketing, sales, and customer service. Teammates is currently available in research preview for Max subscribers paying $200 per month. Web support is live, with mobile and desktop versions coming soon. On-chain news highlights this as a major milestone in AI deployment.

ChainCatcher report: AI search company Perplexity has officially launched Teammates, enabling AI agents to take on specific tasks long-term, just like employees. CEO Aravind Srinivas revealed that approximately 10,000 AI Teammates were created within the company over the past 30 days—20 times the number of human employees. Teammates are built on Perplexity Computer. After users assign roles, goals, and permissions to an AI agent, it can continuously track progress, proactively identify issues, and invoke tools to resolve them. Multiple Teammates can divide labor among themselves and communicate with human colleagues via Slack. For example, a sales agent can detect when a client has not placed an order for an extended period, automatically investigate the cause, and prepare a follow-up plan; a development agent, upon discovering a website bug, can delegate the task to another agent to write a fix. Each agent operates in an independent environment, retaining project memory and task history, allowing users to check progress, adjust direction, or take over operations at any time. Business Insider exposed Perplexity’s internal Teammates tool in July this year, when it was primarily used for debugging and system monitoring in software engineering. The product has now expanded to marketing, sales, customer service, and operations, incorporating long-term task management and cross-agent collaboration. Teammates are currently available in research preview mode to Max subscribers paying $200 per month, with initial support for web platforms; native mobile and desktop apps will follow.
