PANews, September 18: According to Bloomberg, Palantir CEO Alex Karp, in an interview with CNBC, stated that companies developing and deploying AI systems should be held accountable for the consequences of their technology, rather than relying solely on government regulation. In response to Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei’s suggestion of embedding third-party security evaluation agencies within AI companies, Karp said such regulatory mechanisms are complex and require genuine technical expertise, noting that most AI experts today are “on the payroll of a particular company,” making independence difficult to ensure. Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang stated that AI companies have a responsibility to ensure the safety of their products; if safety cannot be guaranteed, they should pause releases and “make sure things are done right” before launching.

Palantir CEO Alex Karp told CNBC that AI companies must be held legally accountable for their technology, rather than relying solely on government oversight. He questioned the effectiveness of third-party auditors due to regulatory complexity and a shortage of independent experts. Karp also emphasized the challenge of impartiality, as most AI experts are employed by the companies themselves. Nvidia’s Jensen Huang echoed the need for product safety, urging pauses if risks persist. Enforcement actions under CFT frameworks could shape future accountability.
