A report from The Kobeissi Letter on X, citing Goldman Sachs data, shows that over 1.2 million leveraged retail accounts in South Korea received margin calls by July 13. Approximately 320,000 to 360,000 accounts were fully liquidated, impacting 3.4% of adults. With the KOSPI down nearly 18% since then, liquidations are now projected to exceed 500,000. The risk-to-reward ratio for margin trading has deteriorated, raising concerns about retail investor exposure.
