Ouster shares gained 13.87% to $33.00 in Wednesday's premarket session after third-quarter results exceeded expectations, according to Benzinga Pro data. Benzinga Pro put revenue at $59.33 million, above the $56.27 million Wall Street estimate. Revenue increased 50% from a year earlier and 9% from the preceding quarter. Industrial and robotics demand helped lift product revenue 42% year over year to approximately $56 million. Ouster posted a loss of 20 cents per share against an anticipated loss of 24 cents.
Ouster delivered more than 27,000 sensors during the quarter, comprising over 7,000 LiDAR units and approximately 20,000 cameras. Product revenue grew for the 15th consecutive quarter. Industrial markets contributed the largest share of revenue, with robotics ranking second. Royalties contributed approximately $3 million.
Stereo Labs reported a shipment record of more than 20,000 cameras. Stereo Labs more than doubled production compared with the preceding quarter. Demand stayed strong in robotics, humanoids, warehouse automation, defense, construction and mapping. Management highlighted rapidly growing demand for humanoid robots, autonomous drones and other physical AI applications. Ouster expects faster robotics adoption in these emerging markets to sustain long-term demand for Ouster's LiDAR sensors and cameras.
Ouster recorded a GAAP gross margin of 43%, compared with 42% a year earlier and 49% in the preceding quarter. The quarter-over-quarter decline largely resulted from a one-time tariff refund of $5 million received during the second quarter. The adjusted EBITDA loss fell 60% from a year earlier to $3 million. At September's end, Ouster held approximately $421 million across cash, cash equivalents, restricted cash and short-term investments. The balance incorporated money raised through Ouster's July stock offering. Management said the cash reserves can finance expansion and progress toward profitability without raising additional capital.
Ouster said hundreds of customers had shown interest in Rev8 native-color LiDAR, with orders creating a backlog of thousands of units. Deliveries should rise during the fourth quarter and increase faster through 2027. Ouster aims to achieve annual production capacity above 100,000 units by the end of 2027 through a partnership with Benchmark. Ouster also emphasized a collaboration with NVIDIA. Ouster plans to seek defense certifications for Rev8.
Ouster forecast fourth-quarter revenue between $61 million and $64 million, against analyst expectations of $62.03 million. The forecast's midpoint represents approximately 48% growth from a year earlier when royalties are excluded. Management expects demand for LiDAR, cameras and physical AI products to sustain additional expansion.
