OpenSea confirmed no impact from the Magic Eden security breach, with over 3,000 stolen ERC-721 NFTs now marked and blocked. CTO Chris Maddern stated that the platform’s blockchain security remains intact and smart contracts are unaffected. Warning banners are displayed to assist users in revoking approvals. The incident underscores the importance of contract security for NFT marketplaces.

Odaily Planet Daily reports: Chris Maddern, Chief Technology Officer of OpenSea, posted on X that OpenSea was not affected by the security incidents involving Magic Eden and Limit Break; the system and smart contracts are functioning normally. OpenSea will display a notification banner on its platform page to alert users and provide links to guide them in revoking authorization.

Chris Maddern added that the affected ERC-721 NFTs identified so far have been marked on OpenSea and are no longer saleable; OpenSea will automatically flag any newly discovered compromised NFTs to prevent attackers from obtaining offers. To date, over 3,000 NFTs have been marked as stolen and prohibited from trading, and further efforts will continue to mitigate the impact of this industry security incident on users.
