According to Sina Finance, OpenAI is accelerating a funding round of approximately $30 billion, with a target valuation potentially exceeding $1.4 trillion, and aims to secure investor commitments before competitor Anthropic’s expected listing in mid-November. Existing investors, including SoftBank Group and Abu Dhabi’s MGX, are currently negotiating participation.
OpenAI informed investors that, following the release of the GPT-6 Astra model, the company's annualized revenue has reached $50 billion and is projected to rise to $70 billion by the end of the year. The company has also lowered the pricing of its lower-tier models to boost usage and indicated that further price reductions are possible.
According to insiders, OpenAI aims to complete its funding round before Anthropic discloses its financial data, to prevent investors from comparing the two companies. OpenAI uses net revenue accounting and has accused Anthropic of inflating its revenue by counting all contracts sold through third-party cloud providers as income.
Additionally, in March of this year, OpenAI completed a $122 billion funding round at an $852 billion valuation, including up to $50 billion in committed investment from Amazon. If deteriorating IPO market conditions delay its planned 2027 listing, this capital will also support its substantial infrastructure investments and strengthen its balance sheet.
