In terms of eligible users, OpenAI has officially announced availability for all ChatGPT plan users, including Free, Go, Plus, and Pro consumer tiers. On supported platforms, this includes the web, desktop, and iOS versions of the ChatGPT app.

In terms of functionality, OpenAI states that, with user authorization, ChatGPT can read and inspect iCloud inboxes, create and manage emails, and directly create or update events in the Apple Calendar based on information such as meetings, flights, and schedules in the emails.
For iPhone, iPad, and Mac users, ChatGPT can now play a deeper role in daily tasks—such as identifying meeting times from emails and automatically adding them to calendars, organizing itineraries, drafting responses, or reminding users of pending tasks. OpenAI states that this significantly improves ChatGPT’s compatibility with iCloud Mail and Apple Calendar.
Tech media AppleInsider noted that this update has also sparked discussions around privacy and competition. Users must explicitly grant ChatGPT access to their email and calendar; however, emails often contain sensitive information such as account details, itineraries, financial data, and work-related content, making the boundaries of permissions and data handling practices the primary concern for average users.
