He endorsed the U.S. federal AI safety framework and urged companies to act before rules or exemptions are established. OpenAI will require clear safety justifications before training advanced models. Altman called for industry-wide standards on risks and monitoring. Anthropic, OpenAI, and Google have been discussing safety standards since July. U.S. Democrats will meet to advance AI legislation, citing urgency. Meanwhile, CFT measures are under review to prevent AI misuse in liquidity and crypto markets.
