OpenAI's annual revenue exceeds $40 billion
BlockBeats reports that, according to insiders, OpenAI's current annualized revenue has exceeded $40 billion, nearly doubling since the end of 2025. This strong performance has significantly boosted the company's confidence in preparing for an IPO. Over the past few months, revenue growth has accelerated, primarily driven by the rapid expansion of its AI programming software business. Additionally, subscription sales continue to rise, advertising revenue has begun contributing incremental income, and its core consumer business remains steadily growing.
In terms of competition, OpenAI is fiercely competing with Anthropic for enterprise customers. Both companies have secretly filed for IPOs, with Anthropic expected to go public as early as this fall, potentially ahead of OpenAI. Greg Brockman, co-founder and president of OpenAI, stated that the company’s annualized revenue in July grew more than 20% month-over-month. Recently, demand for OpenAI’s AI agents has significantly increased, with flagship products including the coding tool Codex and the general-purpose assistant ChatGPT Work. Meanwhile, OpenAI has lowered prices for some of its models to respond more flexibly to challenges from Anthropic and numerous other competitors.
Anthropic meets privately with investors ahead of IPO; $2 trillion valuation is an unofficial target
Beijing News reports that AI unicorn Anthropic is preparing for a potentially record-breaking IPO and has held preliminary discussions with potential investors. According to sources familiar with the matter, current talks remain at a high level and have not yet delved into specific financial data or valuation discussions. Anthropic’s CFO, Krishna Rao, is leading the meetings, which primarily focus on the Claude series of AI models, the programming assistant Claude Code, enterprise market positioning, management team, and product iterations.
The company secretly submitted its filing to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission in June, but has not yet announced a formal IPO timeline. Anthropic completed a funding round at the end of May this year, achieving a valuation of $965 billion, higher than OpenAI’s $852 billion valuation during the same period; the company disclosed that its annualized revenue run rate has surpassed $47 billion. Some investors anticipate its IPO valuation could reach $2 trillion, though this figure is not an official company target. On the competitive front, OpenAI has also secretly filed its IPO documents but has not yet initiated pre-IPO investor meetings.

Signs of inflation peaking are strengthening, and markets are no longer fully pricing in Fed rate hikes this year
BitPush News: As oil prices declined, bolstering optimism about inflation prospects, bond traders have stopped fully pricing in Fed rate hikes this year. A rebound in the U.S. Treasury market pushed yields down by as much as 9 basis points across maturities, with the 30-year yield falling 8 basis points ahead of Thursday’s new issuance of this maturity. The offering is expected to set the highest yield for a 30-year Treasury since 2001. Benchmark oil prices dropped over 3% on Thursday; since late February, when U.S. strikes on Iran triggered a supply shock, oil prices have been a primary driver of U.S. Treasury yields, as traders interpret signals from the ongoing conflict. The decline in oil prices has reinforced optimism that U.S. inflation has peaked. Thursday’s U.S. government data showed a slowdown in July’s producer prices, following yesterday’s consumer price report, which recorded a second consecutive month of easing inflation. Rising short-term interest rate contracts have pushed rates lower, indicating that traders are scaling back their bets on Fed rate hikes.
Up to 100%, the United States will impose tariffs on imported drones and components
Beijing News reports that on August 13 local time, the White House issued a statement saying that U.S. President Trump signed a proclamation on the same day imposing ad valorem tariffs of 10% to 100% on imported drones and components, citing national security threats.
The regulation imposes a 100% ad valorem tariff on specific drones with highly sensitive dimensions or functions, as well as their docking stations and certain critical components. This category includes drones with a maximum takeoff weight exceeding 25 kilograms and drones equipped with thermal imaging capabilities. Additionally, a 25% ad valorem tariff is imposed on certain smaller drones without specific functions and other drone components.
The announcement also imposes a 15% ad valorem tariff on drones and components from the European Union, Japan, Liechtenstein, South Korea, and Switzerland. Additionally, a 10% ad valorem tariff will be applied to drones from the United Kingdom, provided that their hardware, software, and technology are substantially sourced from the aforementioned countries and regions, as well as the United States. The tariffs will take effect 21 days after signing. For non-highly sensitive drone components, the tariffs will take effect 180 days after signing.
