IT Home, October 27 news: Tech media Wccftech published a blog post today (October 27), reporting that the controversy surrounding whether NVIDIA's flagship gaming GPU, the GeForce RTX 5090, has been discontinued continues.
Previously, reports suggested that the GPU had entered its end-of-life (EOL) phase, but NVIDIA subsequently denied this, stating that the RTX 5090 is "absolutely not discontinued" and continues to be shipped, though its supply chain has been constrained due to factors such as rising memory prices.

The media noted that, from the perspective of ordinary consumers, it has become difficult to purchase RTX 5090 graphics cards through official channels, with most retail outlets in multiple global markets showing out-of-stock status.
German overclocker Der8auer revealed that an unnamed NVIDIA board partner stated the company has not received any official notice of discontinuation for the RTX 5090; however, the manufacturer can no longer order GB202 chipsets equipped with 32GB of GDDR7 memory.

More critically, the other party is also uncertain whether they will be able to place new orders in the future. The manufacturer stated that even during previous periods of supply shortages, they could still obtain materials through reorder channels, but now even that option has been shut down.
The media analysis suggests that NVIDIA may prioritize its limited GB202 production capacity for RTX PRO professional cards, workstations, and AI business, thereby reducing the share of supply allocated to consumer gaming GPUs.
Another heatsink supplier revealed that two AIB manufacturers have reduced their RTX 5090 heatsink orders for the first quarter of 2027, and received no orders at all for the second quarter of 2027.
For players, this means that spot supply of the RTX 5090 could become even more scarce, with prices and channel pressures continuing to rise. IT Home previously reported that pricing for high-end RTX 50 series models via distribution channels is changing daily; the flagship RTX 5090, with an official initial retail price of approximately 15,000 to 16,000 yuan, has been speculated up to 55,000 to 60,000 yuan, while the RTX 5080 has risen from an initial price of around 8,000 yuan to 17,000 yuan.
