IT Home, October 13: NVIDIA has just announced that the 3D guidance neural rendering model for DLSS 5 will receive a major performance update this week, with the new model set to roll out on October 16.
According to NVIDIA’s official blog, through systematic rendering pipeline optimizations and neural model refinement, the new model achieves twice the performance of the September version and reduces GPU overhead by approximately 50%. Compared to the first technical demonstration in March, the cumulative performance improvement reaches 10 times.

NVIDIA also confirmed that the October update reduced the model size by 24% to approximately 118 million parameters, lowered VRAM usage by 20% at 4K resolution, and maintained visual fidelity comparable to the September version. VideoCardz noted that these improvements stem from optimizations in the rendering pipeline and the neural model itself, not from removing any existing DLSS 5 features.

The new model will debut first in NBA 2K27. Under 4K settings, NBA 2K27's frame rate has increased from 65 FPS to over 90 FPS, representing a more than 30% improvement over the September version.
NVIDIA's official blog states that the new model enables up to a 1.4x frame rate increase in NBA 2K27. The update will be rolled out on October 16 for GeForce RTX 50 series GPUs, RTX Spark laptops, and the GeForce NOW cloud gaming service, and will become the default model for all future DLSS 5 games.
In terms of game support, NVIDIA has confirmed that Hogwarts Legacy will receive DLSS 5 support on November 5, available on the RTX 50 series, GeForce NOW, and RTX Spark platforms.
Developer Avalanche Software used DLSS 5's SDK control features to fine-tune neural rendering effects to preserve the game's original artistic style. This update will also upgrade the game’s existing DLSS technology to the latest version.
IT Home previously reported that NetEase's "Yanyun Shisiliu Sheng" will also roll out official DLSS 5 support in late November. The game currently has over 100 million players and a peak concurrent Steam user count exceeding 250,000, with strong community demand for official DLSS 5 support.
The RTX Remix modding platform will also receive DLSS 5 support on October 23. According to VideoCardz, mod authors will be able to configure DLSS 5 through the RTX Remix runtime and toolkit, featuring functionalities such as per-object control, visual effect adjustments, and scene masking. NVIDIA demonstrated the integration with two community projects: Sparkles/Kim2091’s RTX project for Fallout 4 enhanced helmet reflections, material details, and shadows; and SoftSoundd’s RTX project for Mirror’s Edge, which improved contact shadows, ambient occlusion, and lighting response.
Additionally, NVIDIA has released a beta version of the DLSS Frame Generation Performance Mode (Preset C) for RTX 40-series and RTX 50-series GPUs, as well as RTX Spark laptops. This mode replaces the second AI model in frame generation with a lighter algorithm, boosting frame rates at a slight cost to image quality—delivering up to a 35% performance gain on the RTX 5060.
