Huo Xing Finance reports that on August 3, Gilad Shainer, Senior Vice President at NVIDIA, announced at a recent technology forum that CPO has entered mass production. Switches developed by NVIDIA in collaboration with its supply chain have begun delivery to closely partnered customers and are being deployed internally. Starting this year, switches equipped with CPO technology are expected to be widely adopted in AI factories worldwide. Shainer noted that the greatest opportunity in the optical communications market lies in scale-up, which requires bandwidth performance more than ten times greater than scale-out. Previously responsible for R&D at Mellanox, Shainer now leads NVIDIA’s AI platform networking division following the acquisition and has collaborated with TSMC to develop the COUPE silicon photonics packaging platform. This announcement helps alleviate market concerns regarding upgrades in optical communication standards and boosts the operational outlook for related manufacturers. NVIDIA has already implemented CPO on Spectrum-X, aiming to support the upcoming large-scale deployment of the Vera Rubin AI platform, which offers at least three times the computing performance of GB300. TrendForce estimates that the CPO/NPO market size will exceed $39 billion by 2030, with significant acceleration in growth expected between 2028 and 2029 as scale-up drives adoption of optical interconnects. According to BIT (bit.com) market data, as of publication, CPO-related stocks edged higher in pre-market trading: AAOI rose 2.63%, LITE increased 1.92%, and MRVL gained 2.4%.
